A couple months ago, our hen Goldie, hatched two baby Americana chicks. About a week ago the white Americana chick went missing after a hawk was seen around our yard. We thought he might come back, hoped he might be off hiding somewhere but after a week I’m pretty confident he’s gone.
I guess this is they way of the chicken. I’m pretty sure he became hawk food. His bright white feathers were like a neon hawk sign flashing, EAT ME!
We’ll miss our cute chicken but his sister, a brown Americana seems to be growing well. She has natural camouflage with her feather color and tends to stick closer to the other chickens.
