I was challenged to come up with a creative, fun and easy recipe for Easter this year. My favorite flavor is chocolate and Ryan loves caramel, so I wanted to find something that incorporated both. I've seen this treat floating around and have made a similar dessert for Christmas.
I headed to Walmart to find these new Milky Way Simply Caramel Bites that I planned to use in the recipe. They come in a bite sized portion, in a resealable bag, so there's no extra step of having to unwrap a thousand different candies. I finally found them in the last aisle with the other bagged candy.
There are only 3 other ingredients that you need: shredded sweetened coconut, square pretzels, & your choice of "easter egg" candies for the top.
First you will need to toast the coconut. The easiest way to do this is on your stovetop over low heat. Just keep stirring the coconut until it is a light golden brown.
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. Then line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay out your pretzels. Place a Milky Way Simply Caramel Bite on top of each pretzel.
Bake your pretzels for 5-7 minutes. Remove the pretzels from the oven and place 2-3 "easter egg" candies on top of each chocolate. Cover the pretzels with toasted coconut and pat them slightly. This will help the coconut stick to the melted caramel and chocolate.
Shake off the pretzels and set them on a plate. Place them in the freezer for 5 minutes in order to set the chocolate.
