Ya, it’s a long title, I know.
I also realized that I am posting the Sunday Dinner Recipe on Saturday-bear with me here. I thought I’d post the weekly recipe a day early since tomorrow is Easter and I plan on eating, sleeping and basket hunting all day, and because both recipes are Easter themed-I wanted to give you guys a chance to make them before the Holiday is over!
I’m attending an Easter party tonight and was asked to bring dessert-which is perfect because dessert might be my most favorite meal of all time-and so these recipes were born! The first recipe-Chocolate Chip Cookie Reese’s Brownie Bonanza- was inspired by a post on The Pescetarian and the Pig. I almost died when I stumbled upon this recipe because it looked so decadent and delicious! I knew I had to make it! I only made a few changes to the original recipe, and I only made those changes because I’m crap at making brownies from scratch and because I couldn’t find pastel Reese’s eggs ANYWHERE!
Anyways, onto the recipe!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Reese’s Brownie Bonanza
Active time- 20 mins
Serves- 10
INGREDIENTs
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE LAYER
- 1 Cup Butter, Softened
- 1 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 1/4 Cups Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Sea Salt
- 1 12oz. Bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
BROWNIE LAYER
- Brownie mix
- Everything you need to add to the brownie mix (varies by brand but usually includes water, vegetable oil, and eggs
- About 1 Cup chopped Reese’s Cup Eggs-If you can find the pastel egg pieces these are even better! But any Reese’s candy will do!
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350. While oven is warming up mix together butter and sugar. Ad vanilla and then add eggs one at a time
- In a separate bowl mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add this bowl to the other bowl, mixing thoroughly. Add chocolate chips
- Spread cookie dough evenly in a 9×13 glass baking dish (I sprayed mine with cooking spray first just to be extra careful)
- For the brownie layer- Follow instructions on the back of the box you bought-they’re pretty fool proof.
- Pour brownie batter over the top of the chocolate chip cookie layer and spread evenly
- Sprinkle your chopped Reese’s (or pastel eggs!) evenly over the top of the brownie layer.
- Place in oven for 35-40 minutes
- When finished allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving
- ENJOY!
Seriously! How delicious does that sound/look!? I already know its going to be a huge hit at the party tonight! A big thank you to The Pescetarian and the Pig for introducing me to the wonder that is this recipe!
The second dessert recipe I made for tonight’s party is Chocolate Covered Peeps-I mean, how can you have an Easter party with out peeps!? It would be criminal! I didn’t want to show up with just a box of peeps (how lazy is that?) So I decided to dress them up a bit by dipping them in melted chocolate first!
CHOCOLATE COVERED PEEPS
Active Time- 10 minutes
Serves-10
INGREDIENTS
- I box peeps (I went with the obnoxiously pink chick variety, but the choice is really up to you)
- Melting Chocolate (I used my left over chocolate chips from the recipe above)
- Boiling water
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a double boiler (or if you’re ghetto like me then a measuring glass over a boiling pot of water) melt chocolate
- Pierce a fork into a peep and dip into chocolate until completely submerged
- Remove from chocolate and place peep on a foil lined baking pan
- Repeat for all peeps in package. I was so tempted to nibble on one of these little peeps but they come 10 to a box and I knew there were going to be at least 10 people a the party so I had to refrain-sad day)
- Once all the peeps have been dipped place baking sheet in the refridgerator and let cool until chocolate completely hardens.
- Remove from fridge shortly before serving and ENJOY!
Happy Easter everyone, or if you are reading this and don’t celebrate Easter then happy weekend! I will spend tomorrow in a sugar coma after eating all of these delicious desserts tonight! Make sure to check www.twentieshacker.com next Wed. to see the hostess gift I made for the party!
Thanks for reading! xo Whitney
