{Opening gifts at home, Christmas Day}We slept in on Christmas morning and I woke up with a terrible migraine. We were expecting the in-laws around lunch time and my poor hubby was stuck with cleaning house {which was a total wreck} and watching the kids while I stayed in bed for a couple hours. The kids finally opened our gifts to them sometime in the afternoon without a lot of fanfare. You may notice they're still wearing the clothes that they were wearing on Christmas Eve. Yes, they slept in these clothes and wore them almost all day on Christmas Day. Last year we started the tradition of giving them new pajamas on Christmas Eve. Well, this year C's pj's were freshly washed but still soaking wet when we headed to the in-laws on Christmas Eve and needless to say they were not wrapped. We hung the pajamas over the gas heater to dry before he could wear them. And I had Bug's Christmas pajamas washed, dried and wrapped but accidently left those at home on Christmas Eve, then misplaced the package and that gift is still sitting around here, unopened! That's just the way I roll... last minute, chaotic and forgetful.
{C looking excited with his new Thomas The Train set and helping daddy set it up. I have no idea why these underlines suddenly appear under some of my font and I don't know how to get rid of it. Drives me crazy.}
Here are a few holiday decorations I set up this year. I have this shelf in my dining room and set candles in clear glass jars with salt instead of sand at the bottom of the jars. Then put greenery around the jars and scattered a few pinecones around the greenery. I think it looks a lot prettier in person than in the pictures.
{Excuse the half painted wall.... still deciding if I want to paint that wall solid or start over and go with large horizontal stripes.}A few shots of the decorations on our bar. Again, I think this looks better in person than in pictures.
{Or maybe I'm delusional and it really is hideous. Also our apartment walls are crooked which in turn makes the pictures above the bar hang crooked! Finally, yes, one of those framed prints is a fall picture that I never got around to switching out with a more wintery print.} And I've posted this before but thought I'd post it again with my other decorations. The little wreath I made for the front door.
After our company left Christmas evening we drove around to look at lights. There's this house we go to every year that has thousands of lights in their front yard. It's fun to look at. Here's a few blurry pictures that I snapped. Sometimes they have a dressed up Santa, Mrs Claus, the TCU horned frog and maybe a couple other costumed characters walking around.
The day after Christmas my sister and I went to Michael's, and later I went to Walmart, for a little after Christmas clearance shopping. I love the little gold angel
{still not sure if I'll keep it or give it to my mother-in-law who loves angels} and I love the white doves that I found. All 3 rang up around $1 something each, if I remember correctly. The wreath and garland ball were about $2 each at Michael's. And I found 3 packs of glass ornaments and the glittery balls, super cheap, at Walmart.
And these pictures are from a few weeks ago when my sister and I took the kids to look at some pretty tree lights downtown.
