And this year was no different - on September 1st I headed online and started to make lists of what I want to get the kids this year, and even made a start on ordering some bits & pieces!
I love to get started early, particularly with buying for my own kids, as I tend to start feeling a bit panicked if I don't already have SOME things tucked away by the start of October!
This year buying for both of the boys is pretty awkward - Noah because he'll only be 9 months old and his brother already has EVERYTHING, and Tyne because...well he already has everything and there's very little space left to put more toys!
But I still can't help myself - I love to see them opening presents on Christmas morning and I love to get them a "main" gift each and a pile of smaller presents, so as much as Jon tells me "They don't need it"...I don't care! I need to see it all on Christmas morning, as much for my own enjoyment as anything.
So I've started to plan out what i'll be buying for each one...
At Noah's age my plan is to just get him a few baby toys to go throughout the year, and a rocking animal of some sort as that's one thing Tyne never got.
Tyne this year has already started pointing out the things on the TV adverts that he's going to ask Santa for, which helps to guide me as to what he'd like to find in his sack on Christmas Morning...I know he wants a Thomas Bike most of all! But I also want to get him a dolls house as he so loves playing with them whenever we go to his Nan's house or anywhere else that has one...and it's something I'll enjoy playing with him!
I've already purchased the Thomas bike as it was on offer reduced to just £30 so I snagged a bit of a bargain there, and I've also been keeping an eye on some of my favorite sites for other bits and bobs - for example this week I picked up this fab Thomas & friends Breakaway Bridge set and some Thomas engines from House Of Fraser toys section which I just know Tyne will be delighted with!
I've also been thinking about new ways to decorate the house this year...
I'm planning to have a real tree delivered from Pines and Needles again, after we loved our tree from them so much last year!
