A young couple with able minds found themselves in our midst. Just as suddenly we found ourselves in conversation with them. Not necessarily what we were expecting or imagining when the musician and his film producer girlfriend walked in wearing the uniform of the day. Before they knew it, in addition to enjoying their cigars as Saint Nicklaus, they ended up listening to some Foo Fighters with the headphones that one of our regulars had been listening to.

Since 1994 people in San Francisco have followed the inspiration of the Danish activist theater group Solvognen, after they gathered dozens of ‘Santas’ in Copenhagen in 1974, taking items from the shelves of a department store, partly to make fun of Christmas, but also to address the consumerism in society.

Influenced by the surrealist movement Discordanism, it was meant to be a one-time event. But – 40 years later – here we are…
