This past week & weekend has been a whirlwind! I am so excited to share that we closed on a home last Wednesday. We ended up finding a beautiful brand new home that was within our budget. After looking at houses, buying brand new ended up relieving so much stress because we have limited free time as a family and didn't want to dedicate it to projects around the house. It's in a great neighborhood with a lot of young families and I've already met some of the other moms!
In other news, I have been so overwhelmed with how quickly Rilynn is changing and growing. Each day she seems to master new skills! She has tried so many different whole foods over the past few weeks - sweet potato, zucchini, bananas, avocados and toast fingers. She now sits completely on her own without toppling and she likes to stand with help from me or Ryan. She also amazed me this week when she figured out how to put shape blocks into their corresponding slots in her picnic basket, although the heart still gives her a little trouble. I snapped this picture at the end of the week - what happened to my baby girl?
Something REALLY crazy happened last week. I was running with my mom and we saw two ladies standing on the side of the bike path. We asked them what they were looking at and there was a cow on the other side of the chain link fence giving birth to a calf! I saw two little hooves sticking out and with every contraction the cow would try to push the calf out. We watched for about 10 minutes (I won't gross you out with the photo I took), but it seemed like she was struggling and wasn't getting anywhere. I made note of the field she was in and when we got to our car, we tried to find the house that belonged to the cow. After no luck we had to go home so I could make it to a meeting with someone, but all day I was worried sick about the cow and calf.
That night my dad went back to see what had come of the cow...and sent me this picture! I was so happy that they were ok and I think it's so cool that I got to see such a random thing happening with my own two eyes!
Lastly, yesterday I decided to cut off all my hair again. I lost SO MUCH hair after Rilynn that it was just so scraggly and kind of just "hung there". I wanted a fun, summery cut & always loved my bob when I had it back in college. For any of you too scared to try it - I highly recommend this cut! It's so easy to maintain and I was most excited about getting to just "wash it and go".
I took this last night and this is my hair, straight out of the shower and towel dried. The trick is to not brush it at all and just kind of scrunch it. This is done in 2 seconds so now I can look like I did my hair - even when I have no time to get ready (:
I hope you all had a great weekend!
