College Bound | Pt. 3 Go Greek!

One of the most life-changing decisions I have ever made was the decision to go Greek. I had no idea what this would mean for me. I mean, I knew I'd make some friends and do some community service, but there is so much more to it that you really can't understand unless you go Greek.

There is a sincere friendship. The relationship between the chapter members is like none other. The day after I got my bid, I knew that these girls were going to be my future bridesmaids. I immediately felt like I could tell them anything and not be judged. It's an experience that I can only compare to family. These relationships extend past the chapter, too. I never thought I'd get so excited about seeing someone whom I've never met and knew nothing about, except for the fact that we are members of the same sorority. On a trip to a dirt bike race I saw a car with a bumper sticker on it. It was my sorority. I literally got so excited my dad thought something was wrong. It felt like I was seeing a long-lost sister. Friendships don't have to remain within a sorority, though. I have best friends that are in other sororities or not even in one at all.
There is philanthropic service to others. I have volunteered my whole life. I don't even have a paying job, but I volunteer. Going Greek has given me more opportunities to serve than I've ever had. The fact that my sisters get just excited about planning service projects as I do inspires me so much. We have a certain philanthropy that we focus on, but we really help in any way that we can. If I hadn't gone Greek, I wouldn't have been able to volunteer at a haunted house that raised money for a local charity. (How fun is that?!)

There is personal and intellectual growth. There are leadership opportunities. There are opportunities to play intramural sports. There is motivation to succeed academically. There is inspiration to become a better person.
I don't want to push any certain sorority on anyone. Honestly, that's not something someone decides for you. You decide for yourself. I just want you to GO GREEK.
