Coming in Last...

If you have been following me on facebook, you would know that for the month of March, my goal is to run everyday. So far 6 days in, I have to say that I have done really well. I look forward to my runs everyday and I get really excited about it too.

Last Sunday, I ran my first timed race. This was a serious race to most of the people joining. It was for the WA Marathon Club. There were people of all ages and experiences running. I felt nervous before my race. I kept telling myself, I was doing this to prove to myself that I can run 5kms without stopping and I DID. I ran the whole 5km non stop. The funny thing is, I came in last in the race. I had kids as young as 7 years old ahead of me and I had mums/dads pushing 2 kids in the pram ahead of me. I was last at the race that the volunteers for the race was cycling behind me while collecting signs cheering me on.

I crossed the finish line in 38 minutes and it was my personal best. My personal best! *chuckle* 500m towards the end, the kids that finished the race before me came out and ran with me towards the finish line. They were clapping hands and was saying you can do it over and over again. God. Where do they get the energy from? They made my day though. Even though I wanted to die of embarrassment because I came in last. It is wonderful experience though. I never knew the running community were so supportive. People kept coming up to me congratulating me for finishing.

Now I am hungry for more. I have the Bankwest Gallipoli 8km run next month and I am planning to run the WHOLE RACE! Yes. The whole 8km. Let's see if I can smash my own personal best of 38 minutes. :)

ARE YOU RUNNING EVERYDAY IN MARCH WITH ME?
