In December 2013, I posted a story “A Cup Of Peace” as my contribution to the Composers for Relief: Supporting the Philippines a fine initiative by Samantha Redstreake Geary. A global campaign to support the relief effort in regions of the Philippines devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
A Cup of Peace by Attila Ats was the track I chose, to write my story of hope. When I contemplated a storyline, I did not have to look far. And so I shared a tiny part of my Mother’s life. I cried as I wrote it and edited it several times. Much as the victims of the Typhoon must be crying, over those they have lost. I am grateful to Samantha for inviting me to participate in this collaboration.
Composers for Relief
The collaboration began with Peter Ebbinghaus and the brilliant music of over 30 composers from 16 countries, resulting in the inspiring Composers for Relief album. 28 amazing writers came together to add their words to the music, with a common goal: hope for humanity. These stories have been compiled into a beautiful companion ebook by Samantha.
I am proud to be one of the contributors.
When community across the globe comes together and cares enough to make a positive difference in the world, there is nothing we cannot accomplish as one. This collection of hope titled Beyond the Binding is dedicated, with love, to those who have lost their loved ones. We may be far apart, but we feel their anguish. They are not alone.
Today, I am honored to reveal the stunningly beautiful cover of this wonderful ebook “Beyond the Binding” designed by Jennifer Redstreake Geary
Embark on an exciting journey “Beyond the Binding” of the imagination with 29 authors from across the globe, in a groundbreaking collaboration where music meets fiction. I urge you to read Samantha’s post with her story “The Awakening”
This collaboration has captured the creative minds of film students at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia, whose GLOBAL VISUAL HARMONIES project, under the direction of Ray Kril, adds a stunning element of hope in the form of short films inspired by the album. A documentary of the relief efforts is also underway. Watch it HERE.
