…count Your Blessings

What makes a holiday classic?

Who knows who can say.

Is it “The Old Man” in red with toys and a sleigh?

Is it family and friends, brothers and “Sisters” around?

Perhaps it’s “Blue Skies” and “Snow” on the ground.

It may be good planning, or “Choreography” (if I may).

It’s true, “The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing,” or so I hear (or daresay).

While most may be merry with a bounce in their step, not all will be festive, lest we forget.

Maybe jilted or slighted by those with no glee, or filled with sad thoughts like, “Love, You Didn’t Do Right By Me.”

Others worry of war and peace where they roam, and wish that they (or their loved ones) can soon be home.

“Gee, I Wish I Was Back in the Army” may not be their whim, but “What Can You Do with a General?”  I’d say, thank him (or her).

So holiday classics we all love to see, what makes them last?  Well, if you ask me…

It should be our gratitude for that which we reap.

After all, it’s time to “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep.”

Who knows what the magic recipe may be; I think we all can agree–”Let [Them] Sing and I’m Happy.”

With that I leave you with some holiday cheer, and wishes for a “White Christmas” and a Happy New Year.
