Cream Scones - MFF Pahang

This scone does not have any butter in it, only cream! Yet it is soft and delicious! I was curious about how it would taste, that's what compelled me to try it out... only did half the recipe and put it together pretty fast! Had that fresh out of the oven for breakfast and it was satisfying spread with strawberries jam washed down with a cup of steaming hot coffee! I can't find my round cutters anywhere in the cabinets so ended up just using a knife to cut it into squares:P

Oh and since you can find delicious scones in Cameron Highlands, which is located in the state of Pahang, West Malaysia, I can submit this post for the Malaysia Food Fest, Pahang currently host by Wendy of Table for 2 .....or more.

Cream Scones
(adapted from dailydelicious)

The ingredients portion below makes 6 pcs

140g All-purpose flour
1/2 tablespoon Baking powder
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 cup + 1/8 cup Cold heavy cream (about 148ml)
Heavy cream for brushing

Preheat the oven to 220°C.
Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together in a bowl. Pour the cream over the dry ingredients; use a fork to toss the ingredients together, until you've got a nice soft dough. Then using your hands to give the dough a quick, gentle kneading 3 or 4 turns will be enough to bring everything together.

Dust a work surface with flour and turn out the dough. Dust the top of the dough very lightly with flour and pat the dough out with your hands until it is about ½ inch high. Cut into desired shapes and transfer onto a lined baking sheet. Brush the top with some cream before popping it into the oven to bake for 14 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown. I only baked mine for 10 minutes in my new oven. This oven is hot!
