Cruisin’ with the Ergo Baby Carrier

Posted on the 31 July 2012 by Meltingmoments

We recently spent a week and a half on a cruise around the Loyalty Islands. My poor hubby had shoulder surgery two weeks before we left, so I knew I’d be doing all the lifting and carrying of Dora. I had heard great things about the Ergo Baby Carrier from few of my friends. In fact, they raved about it. I already own another baby carrier but Dora outgrew it at about 10 months old. I preferred using the pram because my back can get quite achy.

What appealed to me about the Ergo Baby, was that I could wear it on my back or front. I did a bit of research and decided that I’d buy one and, of course, I couldn’t resist the Petunia Pickle Bottom range.

It was perfect for when we were dining at the buffet. I could have my hands free and serve myself food.

One particular day, we headed to an Island. When we arrived, the heavens opened and it poured with rain from when our shoes hit the wharf. Hundreds of people queued to get back on the boats to return to the ship. We were lucky to have the only little square of shelter. Dora was snuggled up, sound asleep on my chest and didn’t wake until we got back to the ship. This was a bit of a pattern. She managed three sleeps while I was carrying her on my back when we were sight seeing on another island. She was so comfy and my back, that is usually quite achy, was well supported and felt fine. Dora is 10kg but the Ergo baby can support up to 20kg.

It was ideal for keeping her safe when traveling on shuttle buses and walking around busy areas. We watched performances aboard the ship and strolled its decks. It saved having to wait for lifts, instead we took the stairs and if Dora fell asleep, we pulled the little hood over her and she’d sleep for over a hour.

I would happily recommend the Ergo Baby for anyone traveling with a young family. It was really the best pre-holiday purchase I made.
