I’ll give you a moment to weep over this senseless crime against a classic movie musical.
I won’t waste time asking why, we all know why.
I also won’t lie and say there aren’t scenes that I think would look pretty awesome in 3D, but there are some things you just don’t do. One of them is convert classic films into a dimension they weren’t created for.
Yes, the twister would be pretty awesome with some added depth, and I’m sure the yellow brick road will jump right off of the screen.
On the other hand, the flying monkeys are terrifying enough in 2D, they don’t need the help of an extra dimension.
So, I won’t judge you too harshly if you choose to patronize this insult to an American classic, but I will judge you. Just let me know how amazingly Technicolor those shoes look on the IMAX screen okay?
