When I was a kid, I was a dreamer. I had an enormous imagination and lived in my own fantasy world. This often irritated my family, not to mention my teachers. I was physically there but mentally somewhere else. I still have a tendency to get lost in my own world. I am a dreamer. As a teenager, my dream was to start my own company. That dream was realized rather soon. I also dreamt about traveling and working in many different countries and cultures. This has been my life for over 20 years now. A long time ago, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were backpacking through the beautiful islands in Greece. Together we had a dream about living on one of these islands one day. Now we do. And a few years ago, I dreamt that my daughter, Fia, and I would work together. Today we are a fantastic team. I could go on, but my point is that dreams create actions, motivation, purpose and passion in life. Having said this, if you don’t act on your dreams, you risk ending up disillusioned and regretting that you didn’t make your dreams a reality. You never gave your dreams a chance. So what about you? Do you have a dream? If the answer is yes, do you live, breath and act upon this dream? If not, what are you going to do about it?When I ask people about their dreams and visions they sometimes look a little bit lost. They might have some kind of fragmented idea of what they would like to do, experience or have. Sadly, they stop themselves right there. They don’t trust in their own power to dream big.A little advice from me to you; if you have a dream, be careful about who you share it with. Many people will come up with all kinds of “well meant advice” on why you should hold your horses. But don’t listen to them. Their advice and so-called friendly feedback only stems from their own fears and limitations. Yes, you will face obstacles and fall down when you pursue your dreams. But then it’s just a matter of getting back up on your “dream horse” again and continuing to ride into the future.Never, ever give up on your dreams. Dream big but be prepared to face resistance from family, friends and others who feel challenged by your vivid dreams and enthusiasm. Use and trust in your intuition, imagination and fantasy. I encourage you to start now, today. Write down your dreams. Don’t try to follow certain “rules”, just write something that is close to your heart and makes you feel a deep joy when you imagine your end result. Then go ahead and realize your dream, even if it takes some time and effort to achieve it. It’s worth it! Finally, keep your dreams alive because then you will feel alive. Don’t let anything (or anyone) stop you from creating and achieving your dreams. Keep going and going and going… I know you can do it – so should you.
