Now my baby boy is 2 years old!
We had a wonderful time celebrating this year. We began this past Saturday when some good friends came over to share the afternoon, cake, and ice cream with us. They also bought Dawson a little Sesame Street bus that he just adores. He actually had to take it to bed with him that night in order to get to sleep!
Then on Wednesday, which was his actual birthday, I left work early so that I could bring cupcakes to daycare for him and his class to share. It was hilarious to watch a bunch of one and two-year-olds basically just smash frosting onto their little faces. Very little cupcake was actually consumed.
Then we came home for a visit with Grandma and Grandpa. Dawson opened presents - a fire truck from us and an awesome set of alphabet board books from Grandma and Grandpa.

Then we got to share cake and ice cream.

Finally, I know we did things backwards by eating dessert first, but no one seemed to mind when we headed out for a birthday dinner at Buca di Beppo. The look on Dawson's face when the whole room sang "Happy Birthday" to him was absolutely priceless!
