DC in talks for Aquaman Movie

With Marvel racing full steam ahead with phase 2 and more to come after its announcement of a deal with Netflix to produce a host of shows for many of it's street level characters, many are wondering what direction DC will take. With the announcement of the Man of Steel sequel 'Superman vs. Batman' announced for a summer 2015 and the success of it's Arrow T.V. show things seem to be going in the right direction, if all be it slowly. So news of plans to bring Aquaman out of the page and onto the screen, are an interesting concept. Long the butt of many DC related jokes especially in shows such as Family Guy and The Big Bang Theory many may question the move. Warner Bros. had previously to push Aquaman as a T.V. show, only for the pilot to passed around networks and never picked up.

DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns has been discussing the possibility of seeing the king of Atlantis make his way to the screen.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the most well-known characters among superheroes, and in popular culture," says Johns, before going on to stress the advantages of the ocean setting.

"We are finding new areas in the ocean every day," he continues. "It's as alien as going to outer space."

With many fans calling for a Justice League film for many years and the start of DC's cinematic universe recently, Aquaman will need addressing at some point, although certain areas of pop culture may paint him as a joke he still remains a integral character should a Justice League movie be made. What format he appears on and how the idea is handled remains to be seen.
