Dear Cody... You're One Month Old!

Posted on the 11 December 2017 by Thenigottothinking @tracyzlesh
Oh, my sweet Cody, you're one month old!
In some ways - the first month of your life has gone by in the blink of an eye, and in others, it was a long month filled with lots of different emotions. I am looking into your sweet little eyes as I write this and I can't believe how much you've grown. Your cheeks are bigger, you're growing like a weed and you're becoming more and more alert with every day. You are also wonderful at making eye contact and I have been starting into your big blue eyes as much as possible. You haven't smiled on purpose just yet (those little sleepy gas smiles are scrumptious) but I am so excited to see it soon.
With everything that happened with your newborn screening tests, I have been a little on edge and extra worried about you. I have found myself more worried than I was with the first two babies and I am constantly checking to make sure you're okay. You are perfect, though, and besides a bout of mastitis on my end - things have gone very smoothly. You're a very good baby and a great eater. You love watching the commotion of your brother and sister and you really love to be walked around so you can see everything going on. You also love the ceiling fans and lights!
Your first month has been filled with so much change. We finally moved into our new home. It wasn't quite complete yet - so we spent a couple weeks with Gramz and Pops, but they loved having some extra time getting to know you and they were the best hostesses! We are so lucky to have them in our lives, they love you so much.
Since about 2.5 weeks old, you have been pretty congested, especially at night, which has made it hard for you to breathe. You seem to finally be getting a little bit better and we've been working on some little tricks to keep you propped up at night. We had a couple of long nights, but you weren't fussy - just struggling to breathe easy. For the most part, you go in stretches of 3 hours between feedings. Although, you did have 3 nights of 5 hour stretches recently, which was great! When you were brand new, during your first two weeks, you were going for longer stretches, but this congestion has made it a little extra challenging. We will get through it, though.
This month you have met Santa - a few times - and were sleeping and unimpressed each time. You love your bath time and had your first bath from Pops on November 13th. You love the warm water and are very content being in there!
At your two week check up, you were already 8lbs 2oz (you were 7lbs 4oz at birth and dropped below 7 after 24 hours). You're growing and thriving and I am thankful every single day to witness you change.
Andie and Nolan completely adore you. You've gotten a few nicknames from them - and Nolan says your name in the most adorable way - "Kooo-Deee" - and it's stuck with all of us. We say it just like him! Sissy immediately wanted your nick name to be "Little Cody Man", so we also call you that occasionally. And, along with Noley-bear, "Cody-bear" has also stuck.
We are head over heels in love with you, baby. Daddy told me a few days after you were born that it feels like you've always been a part of our family. You fit right in with us and I am over the moon happy to have you in our lives. You are one of our biggest blessings, sweet baby. I am so proud to be your mommy already and I feel so blessed to be able to spend each day with you.
I am filled with so much hope for you, son. Never forget how loved you are and how much we believe in you as you embark on your adventure in life. Learn from your mistakes, challenge yourself, and always believe in yourself. We will be here every step of the way reminding you what a special person you are and that you are capable of anything you set your mind to.
I love you to the moon and back times infinity, Cody. Forever and ever!
Love,
Mommy
