Deck the Halls

Besides a few strands of lights needed for our windows the house is completely decorated.
Every year we decorate on Thanksgiving. It has become a family tradition with my husband and girls.
We've put up the tree, last year we ditched our tall green tree for a short white one. We couldn't afford any other one & even though I am not really a fan of it we stuck with it this year due to lack of space. I am hoping this upcoming summer we will be able to purchase a new livingroom set, that is of course if I can find it somewhere in me to be able to function in te world and get a job.
The outside of the house is strung up with lights, this was my favorite part this year! We always lived in apartments before this house so this s the first time we got to decorate the outside, it was fun! We strung larger bulbs under the gutters, and mini bulbs around te porch, trees and the porch post. I think it looks cute, even though I would like to go bigger. (maybe next year?)
Our counter top in our kitchen is set up with my Dept. 56 Village, and a Santa and Mrs. Clause that my Grandfather made for my Mom in 1988, both of them bring back memories of my childhood and make me feel "at home". My Nana and PopPop have set up Dept. 56 at Christmas for as long as I can remember. I remember being little and playing with the display and it was like the coolest thing ever. We would all get together at the big house (that's what we call my grandparents house they lived in before they moved into an adult community) and have a large family holiday, all of us together. We still all get together for the holidays but it just isn't the same as it was when we were kids.
My grandfathers ceramics he made are pretty much all that I have left of him, and very few memories. I Cherish them dearly, and hope to one day see them In the homes of my children. Become a family heirloom perhaps.
I did not put up the nativity set this year, not for any reason other than not wanting my youngest to destroy it.
I strongly believe that we need to keep Christ in Christmas so I will be trying to find a safe place to put it.
My older daughter is old enough to learn the story of Christ and I would love for her to be able to place him in the manger this Christmas.
Now all that's left is the Christmas Shopping.
Cyber Monday is coming up, that's the way I do my shopping since I don't leave the house often.
Did you decorate your house already?
Is there any family traditions that you follow?
