#AtoZChallengeI don’t think I ave a specific “D” topic for today other than….. IT’S DEMO TIME!
The repair to our house is finally going to start today. February 22nd wasn’t a good day. As predicted we had gotten over 2ft of snow. The weather people on the news had been talking about a doomsday snow storm that would potentially paralyze our area, Normally all of their stormageddon predictions never amount to much of anything. Well this time thay happened to be right. Snowed in we were. I called off work because of the snow for the first time in 17 1/2 years. I woke up that morning and the furnace wasn’t working. I wasn’t about to leave my parents home with no heat, They are 90 and 71 AND my dad has Parkinsons. Not happening. Thankfully if was a simple fix and our neighbor was able to fix it.
Couldn’t even see our street, No way I was shoveling that much snow. Work would just have to survive without me. Most everything in town, I found out later, was closed and no one was moving about town anyway.
Later in the morning we were watching TV and we lost power to half of our house. We thought it was probably because of the storm and all of the heavy snow. Then we started smelling something weird, searched around blah blah blah long story short we called the fire department to check our house. Turns out….we had a smolder going on in the ceiling. No one has any idea how it happened, a wire to….something….shorted out and set the insulation on fire.
All thanks goes to God for having his protective arms around us that day. And to Timber Mesa fire for getting here so quickly and taking care of us. We have the BEST fire department. Not just because of this but for other things they have been called to our house for, all having to do with my dad.Later in the day I talked to one of my besties, who’s husband happens to be our deacon, They were our clearing driveways and they came over with some of the youth boys to dig us out and cleared our driveway for us.So today is demo day. Thankfully we know a guy , ha ha ha that’s a joke in our house “I know a guy”, a good friend at our church is a contractor so he will be here today with the electrician to start the repair!THANK YOU JESUS!
