Dennys.

Last night I got a random phone call. It was from a friend that I used to hang out with all the time in high school. He was inviting me to go to Denny’s. He had already had this whole thing set up. He was bringing our old crew. It was him, his cousin, our friend and me. We all used to hang out everyday in high school. I haven’t seen them in quite a few years so I decided a late night Denny’s trip was definitely worth it. I put on a T Shirt, Jeans, Scarf and head out the door to go meet up at 10pm. It’s funny to me that I haven’t seen any of these boys in 3 or 4 years, and when I saw them I felt like a senior in high school again. I was brought right back to the old days.

2 of the 3 brought their girlfriends. Jared didn’t want to come (I don’t blame him, ha!). And there was a moment there when no one really had anything to say. It wasn’t awkward at all, and I just had a quick minute to reflect on how much different all of us are now. I am the only one married with a home and a fur baby. We were reminiscing about spring break trips, late nights in my corolla ( we took that car everywhere), ditching class, friends we lost touch with, old boy/girl friends and everything under the sun.

For a split second I missed being in high school. I truly missed not having any bills to pay, nothing to worry about except homework, the only judgment that mattered was your teachers, the biggest fear was your grades, you were able to see your friends every day no matter what, stress ended at 2:25pm, the best sound ever was the school bell letting you out.

High School was awesome so many years ago.

But I only missed all of that for a split second. I also remember being insecure, crying about boys. Not knowing where my life will go, what I wanted to do, having my parents word as law.

I am so happy my life is where it is now. I wouldn’t change a thing. I drove away from my high school friends last night, and it felt good, really good to drive home and cuddle up in my bed with my puppy and my husband.
