4 hours of sleep = UNATTRACTIVE
Day 1 - Magic Kingdom: After sleeping 4 hours we woke up to leave Pennsylvania on a 6am flight. In my mind it sounded perfect because we'd have the whole day at Disney, but we didn't get to the park until 2pm after checking in and catching a shuttle. We decided to go to Magic Kingdom first and our grumpy selves loathed the crowded streets and the coughing kids. Being unmarried + with no children made us a very small minority in the park. All the couples there had "Just Engaged!" buttons or the bride/groom Mickey ears. Obviously, I assumed M would ask here and I'd get mine too, but that didn't happen. The best part of the day was climbing on the Swiss Family Robinson tree house with an Austrailan family who tried to sell us their children. It was pure heaven getting back to the resort (The Port Orleans - Riverside) and passing out on the king sized bed.
Cool people with a Lego Death Star
Day 2 - Downtown Disney: We were originally going to visit Universal Studios, but neither of us wanted to part with $200 for tickets so we stayed in Disney. It was a lovely slightly overcast day, so we went for a run to work off some of that Disney meal plan. Everyone in Magic Kingdom was overweight, and it was no surprise that Disney had barely any healthy options! We later took a river boat to Downtown Disney. For lunch we ate at Fulton's Crab House, MMMmmmMMM, and then spent the rest of the day perusing the lego store and souvenir shops. M really wanted to get drunk, but my big blow out on New Years Eve was still haunting me, so I only had a couple beers. Then we went across the street to a Hess gas station and loaded up on cheap snacks and Four Locos. To top off the night we watched Independence Day on our king sized bed.
Drinking in Italy
Day 3 - Epcot: I hated Epcot when I was a kid, it was so boring, but it was amazing going back as an adult. We got to ride Mission Space and get sick, and then went on a bunch of other rides before we started drinking. The country section of Epcot is great fun, we ate in China, drank in Italy, Japan, and England, and managed to attend all of the informational rides in each section. For dinner we had reservations at the Biergarten, a German beer hall. Oh my goodness, it was fantastic! The food was so wonderful that I forgot to take any pictures. The only downside was that you had to share a table with other people, and our table had an annoying child that kept staring at us. Seriously, Disney almost convinced to never have a child. I bought my first pickle ornmant (German tradition) and M got a nice stein he hasn't stopped drinking out since. And we fell back on our king sized bed, happy and full.Pure bliss at Jiko
Day 4 - Hollywood Studios: The best day of them all! By now we were Disney park pros and got our Fast Passes to the hottest rides. I really enjoyed the Tower of Terror and the Beauty and the Beast show. We left the park early to get to our dinner at Jiko- the African cooking place. Upon arriving early we sat by the pool and drank mojitos and bay breezes. God, I love drinking by the pool. The food at Jiko was amazing, fantastic, orgasmic, wonderful, please eat here!!! M is not used to eating at fancy restaurants or ordering "frivolous" items, but I am so I ordered up a cheese sampler from different countries that we devoured along with a boar tenderloin appetizer. There was a delicious bread basket with rolls made of spicy grains. For entrees we ordered the pork loin and short rib. We also got dessert, but in the food-induced coma I can't recall what it was. It was hands down, the best meal of my life. M says it was the second best meal of his life, after Chima, the Brazilian steakhouse. Filled with wonderful food and a few glasses of wine - we sprinted back to Hollywood studios to use our Fast Pass for Toy Story and Rockin' Rollercoaster. I almost ran over a kid in my tipsy sprint. After a long day of happiness, we passed out on the king sized bed. After body slamming a few kids out of the way
Day 5 - The Pool: After going to Chef Mickey's and killing the buffet there, we laid by the pool until 4pm when our shuttle came to tear us away.
Mickey was kind of rude at this restaurant.
Obviously I will miss the king sized bed more than anything else in Disney. I came away a bit happier with a new-found need to experience more fantastic dinners like Jiko without paying $170 for it.Next time, all-inclusive ADULT ONLY resorts with a beach. Lesson learned!
