DJ CFabb: #ThankYouSteve

Posted on the 12 December 2011 by Sassarella Says @cnigara
There are certain trends within social groups, for instance, our use of the saying "the worst." Now I will admit that I was an abuser of the term and have since cut back but every now and then it shows up again. Another trend down here in DC with us bar people is the use of the phone application called foursquare. If you're not familiar with the app, wherever you go you can "check in" (you've probably seen all of the places I "check in" to on Facebook. By checking in to a place, you might get a coupon or a discount but primarily we use it to keep tabs on each other. It's a simple and easy way to find out where everyone is going out on a Friday night or where someone is working so you can go visit. We also use it to keep ourselves entertained because you can create your own names for check-ins, such as "Fred's Four Loko Freakout" or "Hookers Boozing at the Pint." That's how we use it anyway. So you get points for checking in and can even become the Mayor of a place. I currently hold two mayorships, one at the Cleveland Park Bar & Grill Rooftop Bar and another at the Rhino Beer Tub. It just means you go there a lot and run sh!t (kidding but not).
Another component of foursquare is that you can collect badges for going to certain places a lot or by going to the same type of place a lot. For example, I have a "Mall Rat" badge, the "Local" badge for attending the same places over and over, and the "Downward Facing Dog" badge because I check in to the yoga studio all the time. And now for the point of all of this...I "checked in" to the Apple Store in Georgetown on Friday because I finally got an iPhone! By doing so, I unlocked the "Jobs Badge." When you click on this badge for more info it says, "Here's to the crazy ones. #ThankYouSteve"
So here's to Steve! Thank you, Steve, for making all things Apple (especially my beautiful new iPhone). And here's to Sassarella aka DJ CFabb for bringing new beats to your life. These are for sure going to be loaded onto my new baby.
