Her grip faltered and her nails were scraped right down to her fingertips as she desperately tried to keep Fos from pulling her any further from the doorway. Soon the thin strip of light on the floor that shone from the little crack in the door was out of her reach. Hair stuck to her face from sweat and tears, jaw unhinged, snot running into her mouth, she had never felt this kind of fear. It was like she was being torn in half.
Fos grunted and pulled. Her ankle hurt from the force he was putting on it. She feared her hip would become dislocated if she’d continue to resist.
“You bloody bitch, let go, goddammit!”
She cried out as he gave her leg another hard jerk and was pulled at least five feet nearer to the other room. Fos was fumbling behind him with his other hand and she knew he was opening the door.
“No, please, no!” she screamed and the last of her strength fled from her.
Fos now grasped both of her ankles and dragged her into the next room. Escape had become an impossibility.
The sweat running over her forehead was now beginning to sting her eyes. She closed them.
“That’s right. Give up, you troll. You’re here and there’s nothing you or anyone else can do to save your albino hide.”
She squinted up at him. He had become so ugly and vile to her, an involuntary shiver raced up her spine. His eyes were mere dark slits as he spat on the floor right next to her head.
“Try to make yourself comfortable,” he sneered, “this will be an extensive stay.”
She rolled onto her side, facing away from him. She heard Fos’ boots clanking on the floor and then the door roughly being slammed shut. A heavy lock was slid into place.
She could now think of only one escape: sleep. But even this seemed an impossibility as the cold from the floor seeped into her bones and her fear had the adrenaline pumping through her body. Instead, she lay wide awake, counting the many ways she would make Fos pay for what he was doing to her. If she could only make her way out.
