At the 2013 Teen Choice Awards
I love Ashton Kutcher! Not only is he one of the most handsome actors around today, but he’s also an excellent and savvy business man. We all grew to know him as Michael Kelso on “That 70′s Show” or as Demi Moore’s much younger husband, but Kutcher is also the founder and creative director of several companies. I really admire this guy. Even if he ever becomes a burned up actor (hard to imagine with the Steve Jobs movie coming out), he will have the other sources of income and business to sustain him. I think we have years ahead of Ashton Kutcher, which for me, is certainly a welcomed thought.
Yesterday, Ashton Kutcher made the news, and there were articles about him floating all over the internet. At Monday night’s Teen Choice Awards, Kutcher received “The Ultimate Choice Award.” With his acceptance speech, he seized the moment to give some really profound words to the teen target audience. He revealed that his real name is “Chris,” and talked about how he felt like a fraud living this life as “Ashton,” his middle name. He said he learned his three most valuable lessons in life as with his given name:
(1) ”Opportunity looks a lot like hard work.”
(2) “The sexiest thing in the world is being smart.”
(3) “Everything around us that we call life was made up of people that are no smarter than you.”
Click HERE to check out Chris “Ashton” Kutcher’s speech at the Teen Choice Awards. Trust me…..it is worth watching and is so inspiring for all ages. I love, however, that he chose to deliver these words to young people. They need to hear young Hollywood, their role models, say words like this more often. What a refreshing moment in an otherwise corrupt atmosphere such as the glitzy, phony and a little nauseating Teen Choice Awards. Way to go, Ashton!!!! (or Chris — whatever you want to call him)
For today’s song of the day, I chose the most ridiculous sexy song I could find. The Pussycat Dolls are fun, but boy…..do Ashton’s elevated images of smarts come across in a video like this one? Au contraire……this is the Hollywood image of sexiness that we are teaching our children. I don’t have a huge problem with it, but it would be nice to show the sexy smart image from time to time, too. Thank you, Ashton Kutcher , for reminding us with some very prolific words the other night. Click HERE to watch the Pussycat Dolls perform their version of sexy: “Don’t Cha” at the 2010 MTV Music awards, but let’s remember to take it with a grain of salt. Sexy is in the eye of the beholder….not in the eye of Hollywood.
