Dream Kitchen Decor

They say that the kitchen is the heart of any home...well that's not really the case in my house as the kitchen is by far our teeniest room!   It's just about big enough to fit two people in side by side but seriously...that's your lot! Whenever Tyne tries to join us in there it gets seriously cramped!   But I was ok with making the switch from our much larger kitchen in our last house because we were gaining a separate dining room, and really all we use the kitchen for is cooking and washing dishes anyway!   But of course with it being so very tiny, it means that there's nothing I can really do with it design-wise...there's not much wall space at all, not really anywhere I can put my own stamp on it.   So what do you do when you can't play house in your own home?!   Well personally I usually spend a few hours designing "dream homes" on The Sims but otherwise I take to Pinterest and create mood boards of how I'd decorate if only I had all the space (and money!) in the world! I thought I'd share with you a few of my little Kitchen design inspiration ideas today.   I absolutely love the traditional American home look with a big island in the center of the kitchen...and I do like a lot of white when it comes to cupboards (Although I know in reality they'd be a nightmare to keep clean and grease-free in a kitchen!) but I also like a bit of personality injected in too! I'm not a plain and simple all the way kind of person...I think your home should always have your own personal stamp on it...I don't like to see show homes, I always think of the tv show "Through The Keyhole" and how the items around a persons home should tell you something about the people who live there...rather than looking like a page from a catalogue, I like to get an idea of the kind of people that live in a house by the little touches they have here and there! To me, that's what takes it from a house to a home.     In a perfect world, I'd love a kitchen along these lines...Ok I'd probably lose the clashing wall patterns and the picture frame but I love the mix of classic look of the cupboards with the rustic island and the dash of color thrown in (though I'd want rid of the shiny island surface for sure!) , and those quirky chandeliers and chevron patterned stools are right up my street!      If I had the space I'd love to do up an old dresser like this and use it for cups and plates, trinkets and even a cute little coffee station like this one!   And I'd want lots of little touches of character in the bits & pieces dotted about too...
Of course its lovely to have fun dreaming up designs for fantasy homes with space and money no object, but if you're looking to transform your kitchen space in your own home you might want to consider taking out a loan to help you achieve exactly what you want without compromise.     How would you decorate your dream kitchen?   If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me on Bloglovin'
