I always feel really guilty when I don’t write a blog in the morning. Aside from my mother calling worried that something monumental occurred, because why else would I have neglected what I love doing so much, I feel like I’m letting my readers down. After all, this is a “song of the day” blog – not a” song of the every other day” blog.
Life is busy though! Just so you all know the process – I wake up every day an hour or two earlier than anyone else in my family – usually at 5:30. I take the dogs out, feed the pets, and then I do my blog writing. If I have to wake up earlier than 5:30 am, that’s when I skip writing for the day. Not only do I feel guilty when I skip a daily blog post, but I also feel like something is off and missing for the rest of the day. Writing is cathartic. I only spend about 30ish minutes a day doing it, but something about it clears my head. It puts order in the messed up chaos that is endlessly going at at full force overtime, and it brings me the peace I need to start my day. I wonder if other writers feel the same way.
This is my first blog post in 3 days, and I apologize to anyone if they noticed. (Or, perhaps nobody noticed, and this is all just my own issue.) Regardless, please know that I welcome writing this morning with a head that is clearer than it was yesterday or than it was the day before.
Today, my song of the day is “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray, because writing is the outlet that allows me to “Drift Away” and that helps me to “get lost in your Rock and Roll.” Man, I love writing my song of the day. Thanks so much for listening!
