Still, it’s kind of amazing when you think of how far technology has come since then.
I don’t think we could have dreamed that in a mere 4 decades we’d go from being astounded by mobile technology to wandering into fountains and off train platforms and into oncoming traffic due to our complacency surrounding the wonder.
Truth is, calls are one of a myriad of tasks we expect of our phones and one of a myriad of distractions from the world that’s currently around us.
I’m not saying that mobile technology isn’t a marvelous thing. I only wonder if its creators considered publishing an etiquette book along with it.
Because as we all know, with great power comes great responsibility, and I think Spider-man would agree that its best to concentrate on the task at hand. Texting while web-slinging can get pretty dangerous.
Nonetheless, a very happy 40th birthday to the mobile phone. You may be over the hill, but odds are your owner tripped as they were texting while climbing the hill.
