Today was a a great workout. Guess what? I am getting stronger! It's pretty simple. I can lift heavier weights while increasing the number of reps.
Why on earth would I care about getting stronger? Because, being strong makes me feel better about myself and that's all that really matters..oh and stronger muscles make you look better in and out of your clothes.
When you google strength training 37,700,000+ results come up in 0.29 seconds. No wonder so many people are confused about what to do at the gym or what to do for fitness in general. There are so many opinions, options and information out there to read about and choose from. How are you supposed to know what to do? Don't even get me started on nutrition.
I was giggling on Monday because I went to a BodyStep class and there are a few "old school" steppers that wear white aerobics shoes and slouchy socks and do the jazzy hands that were so popular in the 80's and 90's. It made me wonder about what will be next for the fitness industry. It's such a young industry that is developing so quickly. I am talking about modern fitness.
A year or two (or 10,000) before I was born a quest for fitness was driven by desire to hunt and gather food. How many of you go to the gym today so you can catch your dinner? So let's keep it recent. I am not sure if you would agree or disagree but it seems as we as a society in general become more concerned with money, prosperity and self-entertainment, fitness levels tend to decline.
Today people struggle to find time to get to the gym/be active for 45-60 minutes 3 times a week. Far too many people don't even make it that often.
I guess what I wanted to say with all of this is that over the years with all of the information overload that is out there regarding the fitness industry today I have come to realize that I can summarize every fitness magazine, workout, nutrition and fad diet book in four simple words:
"Eat Less. Do More."
Why make it complicated? When everything was simpler, we were healthier. This was a bit of a tangent, so thanks for listening. xo
P.S. Kyle and I realized that we dislike the same person today. We like everyone-for the most part. We are so trainer/client soul mates.
Happy Reading,
