Eat’s Date by Open Rice | Hap Chan Tea House

Posted on the 28 October 2013 by Genzelkisses

A few days ago, I was again invited to join Open Rice’ Eat’s a Date event happening at Hap Chan Tea House, Harbor Square Branch.  I wasn’t able to attend the previous event due to my conflict sched so, thankful I was able to go this time and I was so excited since I’ve been to Hap Chan in BF Homes, Paranaque a few times already and I’m loving their food!

Hap Chan Tea House, Outside view

The place is very spacious.  Perfect for family gatherings and events.  There are also private rooms for meetings and the like.  It’s actually another block for those rooms on the left (not captured in the photo).

View on the left once you entered the restaurant.  You see “Diamond” room and next to it is “Sapphire” I believe and other private rooms.

Here’s your view, straight upon entrance.  I love the luxury Chinese interior with their signature red color for accents.

Here’s the view from where I was sitting.  I love how the sunlight infiltrates the whole area.  Talk about good aura.

The lovely view outside the resto.

These things are important for me whenever I get to visit any restaurant.  I love the feeling of comfort and relaxation while enjoying your food.  It’s priceless.  It was still early morning but the place was filled with customers for lunch but it didn’t look crowded and still, you can enjoy your food.  I love everything pretty that’s why I appreciate their lovely interiors as well.

Now enough for the aesthetics, let’s go with their food!  We were served with a number of recipes to taste from their menu.

Wanton Noodle – P130.00

You can top their wanton noodle with Beef, Lobster, Chicken, Kikiam, and Fish balls.  The one on the photo above are the Lobster balls that are so yummy.  Lobster ball is really tasty unlike other lobster balls I’ve tried before, sometimes all you get to taste is the flour.

These dumplings can also be the toppings for your Wanton noodles.

Asado Noodle – P110.00

This is my favorite among the three noodles that I’ve tried, next is the Beef Brisket (same price) but unfortunately I can’t find the photos on my cam.  This Asado Noodle is scrumptious.  The soup and the meat go perfectly together.  I can mix it with plain rice and be an instant viand!

Shrimp Siomai – P85.00

I’m a huge fan of siomai.  It’s an easy snack that can fill your stomach anytime.  Hap Chan’s siomai tastes great even without dipping it to any sauce.  It’s tasty and stuffed with flavor.

Hakaw – P90.00

It’s my first time to try this and it has been raved by a lot of Chinese cuisine lovers out there.  Now for me, there’s no doubt why they should.  The steaminess and flavor melts in your mouth that makes you crave for more.

Soyed Tofu

Ohhh I love this!  I like eating tofu soaked in soy sauce with onion and other spices.  This one from Hap Chan is really fine and rich with flavor.  I like it crisp and tasteful.

Special Kikam

I honestly don’t know what are stuffed inside of this but it’s super good!  The best Kikiam I’ve tried so far.  It’s crispy and and filled with spices.

Shrimp Balls

They tastes like real shrimps but I prefer it dipped with the sauce for added flavor.

Chicken Feet – P80.00

I prefer this one to have thicker sauce but nonetheless, it’s good and melts perfectly in your mouth.

Soyed Squid

They look like ham or sliced salmon to me  but yes, they taste 100% squid without the elastic feeling every time you eat squid right?

Soyed Beef Kenchi

At first I thought this is liver, soyed in soy sauce but yes it’s beef!  It tastes a bit strong for me but it’s a perfect viand with rice.

Yang Chow Fried Rice – P220.0o

This is my favorite rice from this resto.  We order this every time we visit Hap Chan in BF Homes.

Fried Chicken Fillet with Salt and Pepper

I like the fact that it’s tender and not too salty for my liking.

Fried Chicken Fillet with Lemon Sauce – P240.00

My favorite among all of the food we tried.  The taste of lemon is just right and it goes well with the crispiness of the the chicken.

Minced Pork with Lettuce

This one is very tasty but also oily for my liking.  Eat this by wrapping minced pork with lettuce and dip in its sauce.

Salt and Pepper Spareribs – P110.00

The pork is crunchy but definitely not my braces’ best friend.  I find it hard to eat dishes like this because of the metals wrapped around my teeth! *laughs*  The salt and spice tastes pretty well together.

Sweet and Sour Pork – P110.00

Another favorite of mine.  The pork is so tender and I love the sauce!  I can finish this in a snap! (of course, that’s overreacting )

With the Open Rice and Hap Chan Team

Overall, I love the place.  Thankful they have a branch in the south that I can always visit anytime I long for their recipes.  Considering the place, ambiance, price of the food, and the taste of their recipes, I can give them 4/5 as I still have to taste their desserts yet next time
