Eau Thermale Avene Micellar Lotion Review, Product Launch, and Skincare Tips!

Posted on the 09 March 2016 by Genzelkisses

As a beauty blogger and makeup artist, I always have stocks of makeup removers. I use two kinds for my face. A two-phased lip and eye makeup remover (oil-based), because I find them easier to use for waterproof and hard to remove makeups, and a mild makeup remover (most of the time water-based, micellar water, or cleansing oil) for the whole face. Then after removing makeup, it's time to wash my face with my favorite facial cleanser and proceed to my night skincare ritual.

However, whenever I feel so exhausted the whole day with work and events, I am guilty of sleeping with makeup on and it is not good. I also test products by having them overnight and check if I'll have breakout the next morning. My skin can tolerate this no-good routine but please guys, don't do it. Always, always remove your makeup and clean your face before going to bed.

Eau Thermal Avene Micellar Lotion / Micellar Water (200ml) - P735.00

Now, I have the answer for my lazy days. The new Avene Micellar Lotion now is now no-rinse formula! *party dance* Which means I can go straight to bed after removing my makeup! It makes my skin smooth, soft, and moisturized. It doesn't make my skin oily and I find it enough to skip my night routine sometimes.

It's also very easy to use. I blurred some parts of my face here because.. my pores! you know! haha
A selfie with makeup on. I just used my Maybelline BB Cream in Natural, Rucy's Vanity Two-way cake foundation, L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara (it's tough to remove), The FaceShop eyebrow pencil, and Maybelline Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice. I wore this simple MOTD to church.

Grab a clean cotton pad. I use Cuddles, and now I'm trying out Enfant as recommended by a reader.
This is enough to soak and remove makeup for the whole eye.

I soak my eye to the cotton pad with makeup remover this way. Yes, eyes opened. I really don't like removers that sting my eyes. This technique also helps maintain my curl lashes

Then I'll let it soak until it gets absorbed by the skin. Gently rub to remove the makeup thoroughly.

Tada! L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara is really hard to remove, ugh! But I love how it works with my lashes.

It can remove lipsticks too! Left side of my face is now bare, compare.

The Avene Micellar Lotion is best partnered with Thermal Spring Water.
More about .

I've been using the Thermal Spring Water for more than a year now both personal and with my makeup clients. It's a great skincare product that you can use even during the midle of the day, and a must have this summer! It works best as a primer and setting spray. When you feel like your makeup look so matte or powdery, spray a couple of the spring water!

What's good with the Micellar Lotion?

Overall, it's currently my favorite makeup remover. I like that it hydrates my skin while leaving it makeup free at the same time.

Sharing with you some photos during the official launch of the product. The event was held at Salon Beauvoir in Makati. It's such a pretty place making the event so intimate.

There was a photobooth! See my shot below.

Tips that I learned from Dr. Christene:

Ideally, you should remove your makeup before going to bed to eliminate traces of makeup, dirt, and pollution. It rids skin of perspiration and sebum accumulated overnight.

Regular soap and shower gel should never be used on the face. It's too strong it can destroy the skin's hydrolipidic barrier that cause dryness.

Alcohol based makeup removers can be irritating and drying to the skin.

Unconventional makeup removers such as baby oil can block pores significantly and cause breakouts in acne-prone patients.

Some makeup removers contain active cleansing ingredients which may remain on the skin unless washed off. If they remain, the residue from them may expose the skin to excess amounts of various chemicals like emulsifiers, surfactants, formaldehyde, and fragrances.

Left over eye makeups like mascara can lead to eye infections, discoloration, and puffy eyes in the morning. Do not rub delicate under-eye area to avoid wrinkles.

Because the skin around the eyes is particularly thin and sensitive, always use a product that has been created especially for this area.

Avoid scrubs if you have sensitive skin and acne as it can aggravate the condition of your skin.

Know your skin type. Using the right makeup remover suitable for your skin is vital for skincare to keep the skin looking youthful and flawless. If you're unsure with your skin condition, better consult a professional, board-certified PDS dermatologist is recommended.

More about Micellar Water
It has tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in water and recommended for people with dry and sensitive skin types. It's very handy for travel or vacation because of its no-rinse formula. Sometimes, it doesn't thoroughly remove waterproof makeup so keep a two-phased lip and eye makeup remover in handy.

We also learned some makeup techniques from the Maybelline New York Expert Makeup Artist, Ms. Chuchie Ledesma.

Here's Gretchen Gatan (Greta's Junkyard) to model the day makeup look.

Then here's Phylicia Pineda (Stylecentric) for the night makeup look.

Lovely Gretchen and Phya, makeup by Ms. Chuchie Ledesma (Maybelline New York Makeup Artist).

And here's my simple OOTD to end this post 😀 Thank you Phya for the photo!

I hope that you learned something from this review / article especially with regards to taking care of your skin and choosing the right makeup remover. Let me know in the comments if you've tried Avene Micellar Lotion or any Avene product and share your experience with it!

I've tried the Avene Thermal Spring Water spray (I have all three sizes, small (for travel, in my gym bag), medium (what I use at home), and biggest bottle (bought it for my boyfriend for his allergies). I guess, that's so obvious how much I love the products! *haha* So far so good, and I can say they are effective. I've also tried the Cleanance soapless cleanser and moisturizer, love them!
