Here Eer is my hyper active nephew, Birr is my amazingly naughty sister, and finally Fateh is myself :)
About 2 weeks ago, My sister and nephew had come to stay for a few days with me. Since it’s the vacation time, my little nephew who loves long drives and road trips was after my life to take him out some where..So, we planned a day trip to Agra from Delhi, since only the 3 of us were travellig we took Santro for its comfort driving on the highway. Later that evening, I took my car to the service station and got it checked for the long route to be taken the next day then we packed some stuff for change and some eateries for the nephew and we were good to go..Next Morning, It was a Tuesday,we started our day at 3.30 am and after an early breakfast and tea we left at 4.30 am. Our plan was to reach the Taj by 7.30 so that we could enjoy its glorious beauty in the morning sun , when the crowd is very less and the weather is pleasant. Now, Eer has a habit of spilling all his drinks in the car, Birr is in the habit of spilling food while in the car and Fateh..thats me..completely hates it, So just to be on the safer side I plugged in the new Ambi Pur car fragrance in Aqua to keep the car fresh in the rainy season aswell as fresh from all the food and drink spilling that it had to take during the wholeday!!
We took the Yamuna Expressway which has reduced the travel time by road from Delhi to Agra to under three hours. It starts from Noida and a toll of 320 rupees per car for a one way trip (520 rupees round trip) is payable. It’s the best suited route for females drivers aswell, But little did we know that after crossing the Noida Toll, we’ll be welcomed by a massive rain which was not ready to stop…and at one point the visibility came down to zero and we had to stop at the midway at a dhabba…It continued to rain like that for the next 3 hours..and we spent that time inside the dhabba, Eer played around and enjoyed the rain to the fullest, initially Birr and I were a bit irritated but then as the time passed more and more cars started to stop and a lot of people came and waited like us..It looked like a mini picnic spot where everyone sat together and had a chat over hot tea and pakoras..with the kids running around..and lots and lots of fun travel stories and laughter…When the rain stopped no one was in the mood to go..but then we started again…Thank god I had the car fragrance which kept the car smelling fresh:))We finally reached our destination enjoying the beautiful scenery and some major road blocks due to the heavy rain at around 12.30 or 1 noon, and by the time we entered the wonderful monument it was jam packed with tourists from around the world…Still we managed to explore the Taj and enjoyed interacting with a few people who had been coming to the Taj Mahal every year…we met an old couple who had been married for 30 years, and they been coming to the Taj to celebrate their Anniversary every year…Isnt that just awesome and inspiring <3
After exploring the Taj, we sat down for a super late lunch and then got a few eateries packed for our way back. We started our journey back home at 5.30pm and on our journey as expected, Eer spilled his first drink of the day in the car and only after a minutes Birr’s burger slipped from her hand creating a chaos in the car and that moment I looked up (in my head) and thanked myself for putting the Ambi Pur Car Fragrance because of which the stink disappeared In a few moments and car smelled fresh as ever.We reached home at 9 pm after struggling with the traffic and the rains, But it was a memorable trip for all of us, for all its small and big things, the journey was great, the time spent with the fellow travelers at the dhabba was fun, meeting the old couple and exploring the heritage monument was a great experience..I think we all should go for such trips, it is these sort of trips which don’t go as planned which are the most memorable!!p.s This post has been written for Indiblogger's "The Perfect Road Trip" Blogger Contest in association with Ambi Pur
