Engagement Story

I've had this blog for a long time. I didn't have the blog or even think about it when I got engaged. I have had several people ask about our engagement story.

Gary and I met at the Iowa Energy, which is a D League for the NBA. We sat right beside each other. I was still at Iowa State, and the Assistant General Manager told Gary to teach me on sales. At the time I hated sales, but he had confidence in me that I could do it.

Gary and I were living in Topeka, Kansas. He had asked me what kind of rings that I liked and I told him. I love pearls. There is just something about pearls over diamonds. We got a package notice on our door while we were at work. I asked him what it was and he was all nervous. We went to go get the package, and I asked what it was and he told me not to worry about it. It's something for his dad.

I didn't push it, but thought it was a little unusual. We get back home, and it's starting to rain. He asks if I wanted to go to the park by our house. I told him not right now because it's raining. We can do it later. He responded back with it's only sprinkling. We'll be fine. We won't melt. I finally cave in, and went.

We walked around the park, and just talked. Then it got to a weird and awkward silence. I wasn't sure what was going on. Then he proposed. At first I was shocked. All I should say is "Are you serious?" Once I got over that, and realized he was serious and proposing to me. I said yes!!

Below are pictures from where he proposed. These were part of our amazing engagement pictures. Again I can't tell you how much I LOVED the people who did our pictures. They were great, and we got them back so quickly!! I wish they would have done our wedding, but they said no because they were just starting out. I wish our real wedding photographers had done that because they were horrible!!

I'm so glad that GOD put Gary in my life because at that time in my life I was a mess. I always tell Gary that he saved me. He has always been there without a doubt. He has never judged me on my past or my mistakes. He is a calm man and rarely gets angry. I'm so lucky to have him in my life. We have been married 2 years, and it has been the best of my life.

Now Gary about me. GOD put Jessa in my life because when I met her I was lost. She was the inspiration for me growing up fully and becoming a man. She helped me with introducing me to GOD. She has been there through the good and the bad and I am truly the luckiest man in the world...sorry Lou Gehrig, but it is the truth.

More of our fun engagement photos.

When we were looking through these pictures. These cracked me up. Oh my husband!!
