Entry #9 – Spec-savers: You Call This a Fix?!

Dear Diary,

I am quite disappointed and angry at the guy that fixed my glasses at Spec-Savers. The screw on the right hinge kept coming loose, and so I asked them to fix it, which they said was free (but it was still not worth it, I’d rather have my old screw back that kept coming loose). But is this what you call fixed? It’s not even a half decent attempt, and he may have broken it as well – I don’t know for sure but they were $420 glasses! Come on Spec-Savers, you can’t expect to keep customers if you give ‘fix’ people’s glasses like this…

The left (original) hinge on my glasses. This is what it should look like.

The right hinge of my glasses – this is what Spec-Savers call ‘fixed’.

Notice the gap in between the main frame and arm of my glasses? That’s not supposed to be there! The new screw annoys me a lot as well. I’m not an obsessive compulsive person, but at least try to get the same screw size to fix my glasses! It doesn’t look right anymore, I would prefer to have the unfixed ones. Here’s what it looks like from the top:

My ‘fixed’ glasses, which doesn’t even look right anymore.

The worst thing about this fix is that the right arm of my glasses has lost its elasticity. For those of you with glasses, you know what I mean – when I extend my the left arm of my glasses further left, it goes there and then springs back to it’s 90 degree open state. But with my right arm, it’s so stiff and all it’s elasticity has gone now. I want my old screw back, or at least ‘unfix’ my glasses for me! Spec-Savers, you have let me down.

The book that I’ve wanted for ages now has finally arrived (they were sold out and had to re-order it) and so I bought a copy of it today. The book, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists” by Neil Strauss.

“The Game” by Neil Strauss

I’m so excited – and I assure you I do NOT want to use this book to become a pickup artist or to pick up girls. It’s just for myself, to build up self confidence, see things in a whole new light and understand more about social interactions and stuff. And not to mention the new book smell

The weather here in Dunedin is staying as sunny as ever, which is helping me greatly in my mood. This morning I felt really depressed again about life in general (and as a consequence skipped all my lectures), but when I got up things started getting better. I have my ups and downs,  and I can’t control my mood so I’ll just have to accept it.

I had a Psychology mid-semester test just a couple of hours ago, and I have to say it didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. Of course I have really high expectations for myself, but since this is the first psychology test I’ve had, the questions were different to what I was used to so it caught me off guard. Oh well, I learnt from it.

I wish everyone a wonderful day! Enjoy the beauty of life

Yours, -Harper
