Ethan at nearly 21 Months Old
Ethan at nearly 21 Months OldFirstly an apology, I haven't written a monthly update for you since you were 18 months old (nearly three months ago). I have to say that it doesn't feel like it was that long ago, time seems to slip away when you're having fun and it certainly is for me.
You've grown up so much and you're even going to be a big brother in June! I can't wait to meet your brother or sister but I especially can't wait for you to meet them. You're very kind and you love to help me out with anything and everything, so I think you'll make such a wonderful big brother. I really can't put into words how excited I am for us all.

You understand a heck of a lot now, but you still don't feel like saying much. You had a day of saying 'Mama' a week ago but if I'm honest you're not really wanting to talk that much and that's okay, because like I said in my last update - I think that when you do start talking, you'll be talking in sentences! But for now, you're happy with how things are and I'm happy that you understand so much of what is being said to or asked of you.

You absolutely love swimming, I've never seen you happier than when you know we're going swimming. You are doing fantastic at your weekly lessons also! You absolutely love going outside though we haven't done much of that lately because it has been so cold! But we take you out to places were we can go inside and be nice and warm and that is just as fun for you. You love to pull my hair, it's your comfort. You do it a lot and it sort of hurts but I like that you get comfort from it. When you can't pull my hair - you pull your own, especially when you're tired! You've done this since birth.
You just celebrated your second Christmas and received so many new toys (you're very lucky!). You love playing with them all especially your new hoover from your Grandparents.
You love watching television still, you watch Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly the most. And you love eating pasta. You love bath time and chasing the cats (poor things!) and bundling on your Dad and I. You also love helping me to do things - especially to put washes on!

You love your pasta the most for dinner. You have Weetabix in the morning and you eat this by yourself and love it. And for lunch, you like to egg with brown sauce or tomato ketchup. You are getting very fussy lately and dinnertime if often a battle especially if there are vegetables on your plate! You like to have ketchup with everything and like having your own little bowl of grated cheese so you can sprinkle the cheese on your dinners yourself. I wish you weren't so stubborn and stroppy when it comes to dinner, you judge what's on your plate before you've even tasted it, but I know that this is your way of showing us what your favorite foods are. And I also know that we'll have many many more years to come of dinner time battles.
Ethan at nearly 21 Months OldI can't complain at all about your sleep - you LOVE it. You nap for 3-4 hours in the day and will sleep from 7.30pm-7am at night. You may wake up once but it's usually just for your dummy and then you go back off to sleep. You have been amazing with your sleep since you were born and I don't think it's possible for us to complain whatsoever. Lets just hope your brother or sister will take after you!

You are a friendly little toddler who has created some special bonds with people already. You can sometimes get shy, but it doesn't last very long and happens more when you're a bit tired. You go to playgroup usually once a week and have fun playing with all of the toys and seeing all of the other toddlers. You laugh and smile at the other toddlers in your swimming class on a Thursday. And on a Friday you spend the day (and night before) with your Grandma, Grandpop and your Auntie Ellie. When we drop you off on a Thursday and go to leave, you cry (only for five minutes, but it's enough) and if I'm honest it breaks my heart. Walking away from you when you're crying for me is the hardest thing, but I know deep down that walking away is the best thing I can do for you. I was a clingy child and am still a clingy person now and it's not great for your confidence. Unlike you, I didn't have Grandparents that I could stay with every week and that loved me as much as yours love you. But if I had then I would have loved to have a great bond with them and spend as much time with them as you do with yours. I know that when you're older you will be thankful for the bond you have with them and for all the wonderful memories you are creating and have yet to create together.

Ethan, there are simply no words to tell you how much I love you and how proud I am to be your Mum. You can be so stroppy and you do have a little temper on you, but to me you're perfect. Your Daddy and I have never been happier and that's all because of you. You are in our thoughts and hearts every moment of everyday and we love you more than you'll ever know.
Thank you for being our wonderful little boy.
