Ethan is now three and so we wanted to bring his room more up to date with his age and of course introduce more of the things he is in to at his current age, like planes and Lego. We kept the furniture (his wardrobe and chest of drawers) which is from IKEA's hemnes range, although for anyone interested, I don't think that they do this grey-brown color anymore sadly.
I made Ethan this little plane-print myself using the website Picmonkey and then I used an IKEA frame which was about £3.50 to frame it.
I love this side of Ethan's room. The clock helps make it for me - it's the Nextime Plug Inn multi color clock from Red Candy and I absolutely love how bright it is and how it helps to bring this side of his room to life.
We had wanted Ethan to have his own little desk for a while and so we picked him up this white one with a little chair from IKEA. He uses it mostly to build LEGO at the moment, (it's not usually this tidy - I did a big tidy up before the photos, haha!). His black and white washing bin/bag was from Not On The High Street and his storage bag the other side came in a set of three, with this one being the smallest, (the others are being used downstairs and in Logan's room) and is from Jojo Maman Bebe - they're amazing and hold so many toys!
Ethan's brand new big boy bed is the Noa and Nani Hove Day Bed. We really love it because it sort of has that sofa feel to it as well as being a bed and it also has a pull out bed underneath, which will be perfect for sleepovers as he gets older. To be honest, it's such a great bed that we can't see that we'll ever need to replace it. Currently we're using the under bed part to store bedding and blankets in, it really works for us and looks great in his room.
His bedding is from a website I found online called Feather & Black. It took me so long to find a plane bedding I liked. I'm not sure why there's not more plane bedding sets available, but I'm really glad that I found this one for him.
As a spare bedding set we have this duvet and pillowcase from H&M home. We managed to get it in the sale and it looks great on! (And even still has planes on!) ;)
We used to use the top of his chest of drawers as a changing area, but now that Ethan is well in to his potty training, we're using it for displaying some of the things that Ethan likes.
I'd wanted to get Ethan a globe for ages and I love this one I found over on ELC's website, it's one that's made for children and it features different animals you can find all over the world. I feel like having a globe fits in nicely with the plane/adventure theme we have going on in Ethan's room.
We also have a few odd planes on his shelf, they're a bit battered up because Ethan plays with his planes so much. He has tons and tons more than is here, but they are usually all scattered around the house or in his hand as planes are his favorite thing to play with.
He also has a LEGO minifigure book up there too, as he's really getting into LEGO lately (just like his Daddy!).
We have a frame that we bought in Walt Disney World when we went back in February that has a photograph in of when we all met Mickey Mouse as a lovely reminder of one of our most special memories.
There's also a lamp on there as well as a folder for his drawings and art work from nursery, a character his Grandparents bought him back from holiday and a teddy bear which was his Daddy's favorite bear when he was little.
Above his chest of drawers is Ethan's new Vulcan picture and frame. We recently got this during our family trip to The Lake District. Ethan's favorite plane is the Vulcan and he spotted this in a shop window as we were walking past, he was carrying his own toy Vulcan at the time and he was so excited to see it. It wasn't cheap, but we thought it would look great in his room and fill the space and it does. He loves it so much!
We have this little shelf in the room too, it holds his lightbox, his toy Star Wars TIE fighter, a first tooth trinket box, a lego plane (one that hasn't yet been destroyed!), a night light, a money box we got when Ethan was little, a small toy helicopter we found in the charity shop and his Vulcan magazine as well as a programme he got from an airshow he went to with his Grandparents. The shelf itself was from IKEA a few years ago now.
We purposely have chosen not to get Ethan a rug, we feel that it's better to have a hard surface to play cars on and build train sets on. At the moment we've just thrown this cheap car mat down that we got from ELC. In the back of the photo is a canvas box that holds toy cars and a Thomas the Tank Engine railroad playset.
Ethan's new ceiling light is the Philips My Kids Room Avigo 1 Light Pendant from Wayfair.co.uk, he absolutely loves it and it goes perfectly with his plane-theme. I love how colourful it is!
I bought Ethan's plane bunting from a lovely seller on etsy. The first one got a bit tangled before I had a chance to hang it but the seller quickly and kindly offered to send us out another one, which was really nice. I think it looks lovely across his window.
We have used the same white blinds throughout our house, obviously with the boys rooms we've been super careful and made it so that there are no loose hanging cords by using the kid-safe attachment that came with it so that there's no risk of danger with them.
Ethan also has his LeapFrog LeapReader in his room. We are currently learning about the Solar System with the Discovery Set. It's really interesting and great for helping him to get ready to learn how to read and write. He's got his eye on the Disney Planes book for it next!
His personalised toy chest has been put at the end of his bed and I've put a couple of his cushions on top of it. I love the E cushion and also his special personalised cushion from Keepsakes From My Sewing Room, which is made out of his old baby clothes by the lovely and super talented Gemma who handmakes these and also some gorgeous keepsake animals (one of which I show on my video below).
His door sign is made up using the letter cards you can currently get inside of BEAR fruit snacks in association with their current partnership with The Wildlife Trusts. Logan has the same on his door. :)
And that is it! I'l leave you with a few more photos and a room tour video which shows things off a little better. (If you fancy having a watch, it's embedded below).
