Today I want to talk about joy.
Not joy that you find during Christmas or during a particularly joyful occasion, but joy in everyday life.
I feel like in this new-found singleness I have learned how to focus on the good in life, rather than all that I have lost. I wish I could be 100% serious in this post, but then what would be the fun in that?
Here is a list of things that give me joy. Prepare to be utterly unimpressed (But if you can relate, please comment below. I cannot be the only one who enjoys these very "small" things).
1. The smell of fabric softener when I exit my apartment. I find joy knowing that I am the dryer giving off the smell of "Summer Rain". I also feel accomplished because it means I am doing my laundry. 2. Self-checkout at the grocery store. I was obsessed with those cashiers as a kid that would allow you to scan your plastic food cans. Now, I get to do it for real, and I have to be honest in saying that I race the other self-checker outers and I usually beat them. Unless, I buy produce. Damn bananas. 3. When I finish a book (I've been reading for 6 months). It's like hallelujah, am I right?! 4. When someone compliments my wardrobe when I really thought my outfit looked like crap that day. 5. When someone speeding by me ends up pulled over on the side of the road by a cop. This only happened to me once. 6. When I think of a really cute or funny remark and lots of people laugh.
What secret little wonders of joy do you have?
