I think moving across the country really brought out the exploration in me. Back home, when I was in MN, I didn’t go out exploring nearly as much. I was content with waking up, going to work, and running errands more than anything.
It was my last year, more than anything, that got me out and about into exploring my home state (at the time I already made up my mind that I was leaving.)
But, being here, and observing others. I always find it fascinating the trends that people do. Or how peoples minds are. And that’s where I feel very unique.
If there’s an event across town. I’ll most likely go to it because sure, the journey may not all be that ideal, but once you get to the event you end up having a lot of fun and an enjoyable night.
I’d rather have an enjoyable night out and about trying a new experience than being at home. So, that extra drive, is worth it.
I understand that the price of gas is only getting higher, but at the same time, we only have one life to live. Part of writing a blog, part of being in a big city, are a lot of the opportunities happening around you. Are you going to be one of those taking the opportunities for all their worth, or let them pass you by.
I understand, in a given week, that life gets in the way. By working, the other things that need to get done, but there should be a good balance of fun put in there too. And the next time you just happen to see a really cool event that caught your eye, just SAY yes to it. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Exploration is fun, and the ability to just let go, and enjoy the experiences called life. There’s no fun in complaining about getting together with a friend who lives “so far” away. If that friend means something to you, no distance is worth complaining about.
Just my 2 cents.
