Family Fun & Sad To See My Baby Growing Up

Moving into our house has been the most stressful experience so far. I used to think moving was hard before Rilynn came along - but trying to settle into a home WITH a new baby is incredibly difficult! It feels like I am working and cleaning and organizing from the minute I wake up until the minute I go to bed...but last week I felt like by Friday, nothing had really progressed. It's a very slow moving process!

Along with trying to get our new house in order, I was also balancing trying to spend time with my grandmother who had come in to town. I wanted to makes sure we saw her as much as possible while she was here. It was so great getting to introduce her to Rilynn (the first great grandchild) and capturing moments of four generations together!
Then, yesterday, my mother in law came into town to stay and visit us! It was so nice seeing her again. I've missed her a ton since we left New Jersey and it's been fun to catch up on what's been happening since we left.

Friday night we left Rilynn with my parents for our first full night away from her! She knows them and loves spending time with them - she even laughed and waved as we left. Ryan had gotten me tickets to see Bastille and we went for dinner and drinks beforehand. It was so weird to be out as "two" instead of "three", but it made me realize that we need to make an effort to go out more on our own. A date night is so fun and I know we really appreciated my parents watching Rilynn.
We also discovered that what they say about boxers and babies really is true. They are terrific and extremely patient.

Marcy and Rilynn have kept each other busy over the past week - they are finally becoming the best of friends. Rilynn "pets" Marcy (aka slaps her head, pulls her paws and rolls all over her) and Marcy kisses her and snuggles her in return. Rilynn lacks the "gentle" factor right now, but Marcy just sits there - although sometimes she appears to be rolling her eyes or giving us an "are you serious??" look.
Speaking of Rilynn, I cannot believe she is almost 8 months old. She looks less and less like a baby, and more and more like a little person.

She loves sitting and playing on her own, mimicking whatever noise or action we are doing and she LOVES trying new foods! She is in 2T clothing, which has made shopping for me (and grandmas!) a lot of fun. I love the older kid clothing and we have found so many cute things for summer.

She also really likes her toes and feet and I'm noticing she tries to crawl a lot more. I'm excited about all of these changes, but also sad at the same time! I've noticed her nursing less and less and I feel like breastfeeding may be drawing to a close. It will be nice to not have to worry about nursing, but I'll miss those quiet times together - just me and her.

This funny little girl brightens my life and has placed so much joy in our hearts, despite everything we have gone through over the past 6 months. I am so glad we have her and I can't wait to see the little girl she turns into!!
