We spent a wonderful weekend- though very short- weekend in Minnesota!
My dad grew up in Minnesota, and I went to college at a small liberal arts school in St. Paul. Lucky for me, this meant I got to see my grandparents almost every weekend for brunch.
They’re pretty incredible people with an amazing history. They’re also an inspiration to me in terms of health: my grandmother would kill me if I told you their ages, but suffice it to say that they are something else. They still travel, exercise, and do almost everything they did 50 years ago.
We hadn’t been to visit since January, which meant we hadn’t seen our family in way too long.
With family, though, it always feels as though not a day has passed.
This was also B’s first time meeting my grandparents, aunt and uncle… I’d say he did pretty well! But he’s hard not to like .
There was a definite chill in the air, and the frost has already killed almost all of my grandmother’s beautiful garden.
It’s hard to believe this is the same place! (This photo was taken last August, when I was in Minnesota blogging about my experience at Green Giant.)
Although we were only in town for one full day, we were glad to have a chance to visit with Carlye and Joe, and their adorable little lion. Charlie’s getting to be so big! He was barely walking the last time I saw him.
In light of hurricane Sandy, we decided to go home early and switched our tickets from 5:30 PM to 11 AM. Who knows if we even would have gotten out had we waited!
When we landed in New York, Laguardia was PACKED with travelers trying to flee the city. Hope everyone got home!
Speaking of the airport, the Delta terminal had LOADS of vegan and vegetarian food.
I was really impressed! I don’t remember seeing things like vegan eggplant parm and kale salad before. Things are changing .
The vegan taco salad I had for an in-flight dinner on Friday was pretty good!
We’ve all got the day off work due to Hurricane Sandy today… has the storm hit your town? How are you braving Sandy?
