February 1st: Mimi’s Goes Red! Red Heart Awareness Month

Posted on the 01 February 2013 by Jamie Gall @50states50wines

Today is February 1st.  For the past 10 years, every February 1st has been the national “Wear Red Day” on behalf of the American Heart Association to honor Women’s Red Heart Awareness Month.

Every February, this cause is brought up, and many organizations and individuals come together to help raise money for the American Heart Association.

Mimi’s Cafe has joined in on this campaign since last year.  Last year they raised a total of 185,000 dollars, and this year they’re hoping to surpass that number and raise over 200,000 dollars for this cause.

This is also a cause that is very dear and close to my “heart” as I lost a grandmother to a heart attack, and know this disease runs in my family.  But by being aware I can lead a healthier life by eating right, and educating myself about heart disease.

Today (February 1st) if you stop into a Mimi’s Cafe wearing red, you will be provided with a cup of soup for FREE (dine in only.)

Throughout the month of February this is also happening at Mimi’s:

  •  Guests that donate $1 will receive a red heart-shaped tribute card to write and post on a giant in restaurant red dress display.
  • jamie
  • A limited-edition sparkle red dress lapel pin will be given to those giving a $5 donation.
  • reddress
  • As a thank you for every donation, donors will receive up to $30 in Mimi’s savings.
  • Every Tuesday throughout the month, Mimi’s will thank guests that donate with a warm cup of FREE soup.

So lets go out and make this February an amazing month for Mimi’s Cafe and celebrate a good cause with the American Heart Association.
