Federal Bar ~ Long Beach

Disclosure: I was provided with a complimentary meal on behalf of this post.

The Federal Bar ~ Long Beach opened it’s doors on Thursday, May 16th.  This would be their second location, as their first resides in North Hollywood.

The wood throughout the bar and building is absolutely beautiful and gives the bar a very comfortable feeling once inside.

This bar, likes to take over old historic banks and turn it around into a gastropub.  The location in Long Beach, which happens to be the old Security Pacific Bank off of Pine Avenue, is no different.

Giving the building a completely different ambiance, and let me tell you, if you’ve never been in a bar with chandeliers hanging off the ceilings you’re in for a treat at The Federal Bar.

The Federal Bar has a variety of drink options available, and definitely has you covered if you’re a beer lover with bottled beers, draft beers and specialty beers.  They have flights of beer available which come in four 5oz glasses, and for those, that like a little ice cream with their beer, they even have the coveted “Beer Floats.”

I had fun reading off the names of the “specialty beers” which included names like: “Wells Banana Bread Beer,” “Arrogant Bastard,” “Youngs Double Chocolate,” and many more.

But they also have wine available if you are more of a wino.  Their draft beers are ordered by alcohol content starting with the lowest content available and going higher on up.  The beers range from 5 to 9 dollars a glass.

With every burger served at The Federal Bar they also pair it with a recommended beer which is great when you’re looking to order your food.

The evening we went we decided to try out an appetizer, which to them, they refer as “Pass Arounds.”  And we were very happy with the Kale and Brussel Sprout Dip.

And then it was on to our meals:  He chose the The Federal Burger, and I went with the Roasted Pear flatbread pizza.  Both tasted GREAT.

And then dessert:  S’mores Bread Pudding.  The minute I saw “S’mores” I couldn’t resist, and the combination of bread pudding, I had to give it a try.  I’m not usually one to go for “bread pudding” either.  The topping being like a marshmallow complimented the bread pudding perfectly.

Others around us chose the Caramel Cheesecake which came out in a large beautiful wine glass, and we were given the thumbs up on how it tasted.

So the next time you’re in downtown Long Beach be sure to stop into The Federal Bar for a few beers, or for some delicious food.
