This picture was taken by my mother while my dad and me were feeding the pigeons on a square. I don’t remember the location of the square. Initially I thought it was Amsterdam, but the steps behind us and the tiles below us don’t match up with that idea. It might have been, and probably was, in Italy since we went to Italy a lot when we went on holidays. I remember my dad’s watch and I think I remember his bag being a KLM bag. Mostly because of the colours, but I also remember using those two words together a lot “KLM bag” (in Dutch of course). I remember I really wanted to feed those pigeons and we went over to a guy in a stall and bought birdseeds. Right now I actually really can’t stand pigeons because I think they’re rather dirty animals – like flying rats. When I look at the cigarette in my dad’s mouth I remember he always smoked Lucky Strike. Until he quit smoking, that is.
