The weekend is over and the new week is now upon us. I had quite the weekend. I may or may not have worked all day on Saturday and I may or may not have ate a Chick-fil-A sandwich on the way home. Okay, I did. But hear me out. I worked all day starting at 9 and did not eat the entire day. Dumb, I know. I had little time to get ready and eat breakfast, so I ran out without putting anything in my stomach. I then missed lunch due to seeing a million parents and students. So on the way home I went with what was convenient. Big no-no, but I really had to eat and a salad is not the easiest to eat while driving down the expressway. Trust me, I know from experience. Sorry fellow drivers. My 90 day challenge is still in full swing, and although I ate fried chicken and waffle fries, I still feel better knowing I didn't go crazy afterwards. I did not go and blow my entire day, in fact, I ate frozen yogurt for dinner. Wait. Crap! Okay, so maybe I did splurge a little, but it was hot and I deserved it after a long day of eating only three things. That's justified, right? We will go with yes. Tonight I am starting my workout routine, which for now consists of 30 to 40 minutes of walking at a brisk pace. I just really need to get my body moving again. After a somewhat sedentary lifestyle, it feels good just to move again. I know that my body will appreciate it. I know that if I stay consistent, and not push too hard, I will not get burned out as I have before. I used to jump out of the gate sprinting and by the third or fourth day, I was over it. I have to also realize that these little changes are going to take time to bear results. Here is an update about how I am feeling so far:
- I am much more energized throughout the day because I am not filling my body with crap.
- I am actually feeling hunger. I used to eat out of obligation of meal times and boredom. Now I eat when I am hungry. I also eat to the point where I am full, not completely stuffed.
- I have much less body bloat from refraining from diet coke and coke zero. They may be zero calories, but they are also empty when it comes to nutrition. They bloat the body and actually cause me to feel hungry even when I am not. Have you ever been able to drink a soda without eating? I know I haven't.
- My body is craving junk less. It's amazing how much you don't miss junk food when you stop eating junk food.
- I feel fuller longer by incorporating more healthy protein and calcium into my diet. I am one of those people that just doesn't think about eating a balance and variety of foods. I have incorporated more lean protein and dairy. There are mixed feelings about dairy, but the calcium is essential for healthy bones and people tend to lose more weight by including low-fat dairy in their diet.
