Films That Inspire, Move & Motivate

There's an overwhelming wealth of quotes, photos and blog posts out in the realm of the interwebs that are there to help us get back on our feet on those down days. Sometimes however a cup of tea and a scroll of Pinterest just isn't enough for me!

Sometimes I need something that's a little more hard-hitting, that really gets the creative juices flowing and makes me feel inspired - and nothing does that quite like a film you can just lose yourself in. All of these films make me cry, smile and feel determined to make positive changes in my life every time I watch them. Without fail. Whether it is something small like attitude, or making huge life decisions - I find that at the very least, reassuring. I firmly believe that you will too.

InvictusThis film tells just a snippet of the story of Nelson Mandela. I didn't know very much about him before I watched this, but it certainly inspired me to find out more.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel I've always been convinced that if I didn't do everything, and most importantly achieve everything before I'm about 30 it'll all be too late. I'll be positively middle-aged and have done nothing with my life.  This film made me chuck that theory far away out the window. I hope I'm like Judi Dench when I'm that age, except of course I've already had a job, or two...
Cool Runnings
We all know this film, right? It's a gorgeous feel-good comedy and you'll adore it. You will. Trust me on this.
Pay It Forward
You could get the message from this film just by watching the trailer, but hey - watch it anyway?  The Bucket List You can never have too much Morgan Freeman. The Bucket List is another wonderful film about two terminally ill men that set out to complete their list of things to do before they 'kick the bucket'. It's funny, heart warming, and I can guarantee that you'll be writing your own bucket list before they end of it.
The Pursuit of Happyness
One of Will Smith's many masterpieces. This film will make you sob your heart out and make you feel guilty as hell for whatever excuse you spun yourself for not working towards your dream today.  Dead Poet's SocietyThis has a reputation for being a really really boring film, and I'll throw my hands up and admit that I didn't 'get it' the first time round. I then waited six months and watched it again - and boy oh boy did I get it. It's a really beautiful film, but I think you have to like old films to be able to appreciate it. The pace is a little different to more modern films.
Freedom Writers
Another film about a wonderfully inspiring teacher, although this film is so much more modern. The trailer really doesn't do it justice. For me, this really pushed home the message of how we should do everything to the best of our ability, never stop caring, and never stop trying to make a difference.

Film can spark my emotions in a way like no other thing can, except perhaps a good book.

Have you seen any of these films? What did you think?
