Yesterday I was coming back from my lunch break and pulled into my work parking lot. There was a black french bulldog running around. I saw a girl with him, so I thought it was hers. She got in her car and left him outside. It obviously wasn't hers and he was panting pretty hard. He ran into the street and a car swerved out of the way to avoid hitting him. I ran over and called for him and he came right to me. I picked him up. He had a collar on, but no tags. My lunch break was already over and I knew I couldn't bring him up to the office. I phoned Jared and asked him what to do. He and I agreed the best thing to do would be to take him home and post found dog ads. I didn't want to take the risk of him getting hit by a car. I called a co-worker and told her what was happening. She agreed to "cover" for a minute while I extended my lunch break. I drove back home and grabbed Shia's food and water bowls. I filled them both up. I put them in our half bathroom which has tile so if he had an accident it would be easy to clean. I gave him a blanket to sleep on and some treats. I ran out the door and back to work. I took a few photos and posted them on every site I could find for found/ missing pets. I had been back at work for about 2 hours when his momma called me. I asked her to identify the collar he had on and she nailed my test. It was a pretty funky collar, so they'd have to know it to identify it. I told her I'd taken him home and I'd be more than happy to meet her or drop him off after work. She was almost in tears she was so happy her puppy was okay.
After work I went home grabbed the little Bulldog and we were off to meet his mom. We met at a gas station and as soon as he saw her he started jumping around in my car. He was on my lap and had hit the horn 3 different time during his excitement. It was so sweet to see her pick up her little baby and see all over that stress melt off of her face. She was so mad at him for following a jogger and running away, but at the same time she was even more relieved he was okay and safe. He jumped out of my car and right into her front seat. Took over the position as copilot and went home to greet the rest of his worried family.
I went home and hugged my own puppies tight. I took them on a nice long walk and came back to 2 emails that made my day! I had won a contest enabling me to get some new Spring clothes! I was so grateful to win this because I've been so budgeted the last few months that I have had no shopping funds and can't afford to break budget to get some new weather appropriate clothes. Then I had another email offering me to do a review on another clothing item. I feel like the universe is rewarding me for helping this family out yesterday.
It may sound silly, but I totally believe in Karma. Find a puppy, pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck! Of course, the disclaimer to that rhyme is you have to pick it up and find it's family ;)
Do you believe in Karma?
