My mom is one of those people. This past weekend the Pope came to Philly. With him came extra security, a lot of road closures, and inconvenience for us locals. I found out that the Build Your Influence Summit was also happening this weekend in the Poconos and jump at the chance to go on a Popecation. So what does this have to do with my inner circle or my mom's residence within it?
Over the last year my mom's battle with Cancer has slowed her down some physically and I don't feel comfortable leaving her alone for extended periods. That means for the 2nd time within a month I drug her along to a blog conference. She does not blog at all. So that meant for hours while I learned how to make Chasing Joy a better experience for you and a better business for me she was either alone in the room or hanging out in the hotel lobby.
At the end of the conference yesterday as I hurried to the lobby to meet her so we could leave (we'd had to check out of the room 6 hours before the conference ended) I could not help but think about how much I appreciated her. She never complained once about being bored. She knows that Chasing Joy is my passion. She supports me. She encourages me and is willing to be inconvenienced in support of my dreams. That's why she is in my inner circle, my circle of trust.
Building positive relationships is a key component to having a Joyful life. Figure out who is in your inner circle. Show appreciation, generosity and support. Nurture those relationships. Recognize the joy that they bring.
