Inone sentence, tell us about yourself? just ONE sentence?! gaaah ok. (look at me I alreadybroke the rules by putting in here, like, 3 sentences) My name is Leonora and Iam quirky, fun & a graphic designer.Whatcame first...the blog or the shop? the shop! Yellow Heart Art (the shop) was born onJanuary 18th and Yellow Heart Art (the blog) was born sometime in May.Yourshop is full of seriously Awesome stuff, what is your favorite thing to make? I la-la-loooove to make my "squishableart" pillows! These bad boys are not your "grandmothers"pillows. I like the fact that I can take a fun shape like a camera and turn itinto a 3D pillow. Because who wouldn't wanna be able to chuck a pillow at awall and NOT worry about it breaking?
(PS - can you tell the colors I am obsessed with?!?! - and I also OWN one of the above prints)Andhow do you come up with new ideas? I am ALWAYS trying to come up with new and fun stufffor the shop! It's super easy coming up with new ideas because graphic designis literally everywhere. It's not just a logo design, it can be the pattern inyour fabric, the decal on your iPhone, the art on your t-shirt. So there aresoooo many avenues for me to go d own with is quite epic.Wheredo you see yourself, your shop, your blog in 5 years? eeekkk I would love for Yellow Heart Art to be myonly source of income. Right now I work full time as a graphic designer on topof making pretties for the shop AND doing freelance work on the side. It is SOMUCH WORK. I want to be my own boss and truly just do 100% what I love.Sinceit is Valentines' month, what is the one thing you admire most about your Bubs?Ha! I love that you call him "the bubs"too. It's funny b/c when I call bubs by his real name (steve) NO ONE has noclue what I am talking about! I love how patient he is, I really wish I wasable to have that trait. My patients level is a zero and I get easilyfrustrated at times. I admire the fact that he can talk me down from the ledgeand have me realize that some things are not worth getting worked up about.
Fromyour experience, what do you think is the key to any successful relationship?wow, thats a really good question! 110% the answeris COMPROMISE. I was at a wedding once and was blown away by what the DJ did.The bride and groom dedicated their bouquet and a bottle of wine to theirgrandparents who were married, for, like, 3,498,573,905,740,935,879,430 years.The DJ Said "what is the best advice you can give this newly marriedcouple so they can be married for as long as you two" and the old womanpoints to the bride and says "you must always think of him first"then she points to the groom and says "and you must always think of herfirst." Seriously, it is SO true and it is something i keep in the back ofmy mind every day I am with the Bubs. Also, sometimes its easier to just saysorry and move on from a fight then hold a grudge. I'm really lucky b/c bothbubs and I don't really have a hard time apologizing to each other--we both tryreally hard to NOT go to bed angry and reflect on our arguments and learn fromthem.Howdid you and Bubs meet? (come on lady...spill it!) BAHAHAHAHA oh geez the short version of this storymakes me sound like a floozy. Basically Bubs is a fireman, and every year inJanuary the Fire Dept. has an "installation Dinner" at some swankyplace where all the firemen wear their dress blues and all the dates wear supercute cocktail dresses. My friend Matt needed a date so asked me to go--nowladies how ofter do you get to look SUPER CUTE and be surrounded by hunkyfiremen in dress blues? Try never. So I of course said yes. Matt mentions howhis friend Steve is coming too. Steve was doing training for the Air Force inNew Mexico at the time and bought a last minute plane ticket to NY about 5minutes before the plane was taking off. He left the airport & hurried tothe dinner. Matt introduced me to Steve, we became friends, and started to dateabout a year and a 1/2 after the dinner.
