It was only hours earlier I decided to undecided on my theme for Art Every Day Month. Usually I have a theme but this year, given my circumstances of health and family needs, I decided to just let go of needing to have a theme and go with the flow of whatever turns up and/or wherever my heart leads.
Emma wanted to go to a debate tournament where her friends were competing so off we went, early Saturday morning.
On my way back home, I noted how gorgeous the clouds were and thought, “Now there’s a sunrise worth capturing.”
I tried to get a good shot and nothing worked. The neighborhood I was in was too manicured and too “planned community” to get a good vibe with the clouds. I accidentally made a right turn and found myself on a pseudo country road.
I oftentimes take photos on odd country roads so it felt completely at home to me. It was so at home that I slowed down to catch a photo without realizing the cars stacking up behind me weren’t used to such behavior. This road was a thoroughfare, not a Saturday morning with Julie-the-photo-taking-maniac road.
I laughed, pulled over and found a spot to capture a variety of themes while the light remained in its gorgeous, post rain state.
It took me ten minutes or so and a lucky opportunity to take 50 + photos of one moment as it unfolded before me. I just happened to be aware of the "magic hour" of light, coupled with the clean crisp air and this tucked away right in the middle of the city spot and instantly, I followed the flow into today's Art Every Day Month creative "work-play".
My time was so effective, a local artist friend of mine has asked to paint this one:
What are you creating today?
