Last week, we played foster family to a very lovely whippet crossed named Lucky. The Lil' Tiger and I were thrilled to have her home with us for 3 short days. Unfortunately we couldn't keep her because Lucky desperately needed a friend to play and live with her. She just couldn't cope being alone. I just couldn't leave her alone on our days at work. It didn't feel right.
BUT we were so happy we hosted here. Lucky is so sweet and is so willing to please you. It felt so nice having a pet follow you around with their tails wagging. I miss having a pet at home. This is the first time since I can remember that our house is without a pet. Growing up, we always have either a cat or a dog at home with us. Now, my house feels empty without them.
The Lil' Tiger obviously loves animals. She takes after me. :D She loved having Lucky around and they were both following each other around and playing with each other. There was one time when I told the Lil' Tiger that it was time for her afternoon nap, Lucky was going to follow her to her room and the Lil' Tiger turned around and told Lucky "Lulu (coz she can't pronounce Lucky) Tiger nap. Shhhh..."
She was telling Lucky that she was going to have a nap and it's time to stop playing! Awwwww....
M and I are looking for a dog for the Lil Tiger now. We are looking slowly and sorting out things. I am thinking twice about it actually. On one hand, I would LOVE nothing more than to have a dog grow up with my daughter and for her to have a best friend that she can confide in and feel safe. On the other hand, I don't know if it's fair for the dog to be left alone most of the time because we have a full time job and can only spend time with her on the weekends and on days that I do not work.
So that's why we have decided to be a foster family for dogs. I am helping the lovely GreyhoundAngels group with fostering some of their rescued greyhounds. Who knows one of them might find a forever home with us. :) So in the meantime, they are welcome to hang around with us and see if they are ok to be left alone.
You can visit GreyhoundAngels or their facebook page to see if you can either help foster these beautiful dogs or give them a forever home. So if you are in Perth, why not have a look and see if you can help.
Every month, I am going to feature the "GREY OF THE MONTH" on my blog to help out. :)
